All Star Game 2011 (Chase Field)

This was huge!  The All-Star Game came to Phoenix in 2011.  No way were we going to miss this amazing event.  Since it was close by, we decided to only spend one night in Phoenix (after the Home Run Derby).  We went up to Phoenix for Fan Fest on the Friday before the game with a return on Monday for the games.

When we found out the game was going to be in Phoenix, I decided that we should get a ticket package that would guarantee us the chance to buy tickets for the game and Home Run Derby.  Since we lived 90 miles away, the choice was to purchase the Weekend Package. That got us two tickets for every weekend game of the season plus we were guaranteed ASG seats. We were in!

As it got closer, the more excited we became. All Summer long, Phoenix was got ready for the big event.  Chase Field had several cool ASG statutes that we got to see before the weekend. The home teams for the ASG usually do some sort of cool public art placed throughout the city.  Cincinnati did mustaches in 2015. Minnesota had cows in 2014. Phoenix  chose to use cactus. They were fun to sport around Chase Field and downtown.

In the movie “Field of Dreams,” someone looks out over a baseball field and asks Kevin Costner if this was heaven. Without missing a beat, he answers with “No, it’s Iowa.”  As the doors to the Phoenix Convention Center opened on Friday morning, Mac and I looked out over the multitude of vendors, batting cages, and souvenirs and we asked “Is this heaven?” Gosh, where do you start?  We got there as the doors were opening and spent the entire day
